Rontard:
A term used to describe a supporter of Ron Paul. Rontards are often internet spammers who will post link after link to prisonplanet articles or youtube videos yet, will never quote anything from the mainstream media because they believe it is run by neo-fascists who want to kill us all. Rontards believe that only they support the constitution yet seem to have major issues with rights, such as the ‘freedom of the press’, when they are used against them. Other words to describe the bulk of Rontards include; Conspiracy theorists, white supremacists, high schoolers, and brain-dead stoners.

Can someone please tell that rontard that youtube is not a primary source?

I’ve been on hiatus for the last month or so, kind of a self-imposed seclusion. But now that the big summertime event I put on is over with (until next year), I am back at it.

Taking a cue from the Democrats by using their favorite tactic, Ron Paul pulls out of his bid to be the Republican nominee. I guess 4% is 4% after all.

You know I had to say it…

Many of the Ron Paul meetup groups are now all dropping like flies due to a lack of leadership and enthusiasm. So you can fold up your hand made Ron Paul signs now, it’s time to go home.

As for the site, well let’s just say it will be here, but it won’t be updated as much until the next election season. We will check in from time to time. And of course we will be here to post any Ron Paul news.

Yes, the Rontards are still at it.

As I went to my Senatorial Convention this spring, I had an eerie feeling when I noticed all of the Rontard bumper stickers that were there in attendance, and how the turn out was in no way a reflection of the actual number of votes cast for Ron Paul in the county. I have to give it to them, they are organized. So, for the past several months now, I have been monitoring some of the communication that is coming out of the Ron Paul camp looking for this very thing.

As far away as a year ago, I began hearing rumors that the poor showing in the polls, and at the ballot box was going to force the hand of the Ron Paul camp to try and seize control of the National Convention by flooding it with Ron Paul supporters, much in the same way they flooded every single web poll, or IM poll during the debates. Not satisfied with Democracy in action, the Rontards would instead take matters into their own hands. The plan would be to take over the Precinct meetings to elect the Delegates for the Senatorial Conventions and in turn affect the Delegate selection all the way up to the National Convention. For this type of “Rube Goldberg machine” to actually happen, every single domino would have to fall the right way.

While I don’t think it is plausible, there will be some serious repercussions if were to actually it happen. Personally, I already feel disenfranchised at the way our current candidate was pre-selected for us before we even got the chance to vote in Texas. The prospect of having to support McCain this election season does not necessarily excite me, but a brokered Ron Paul selection will surely will make matters far worse, and will sink the Republican Party for this election cycle for sure. You think Republicans are angry and want to sit this one out now, just wait until until a brokered convention, and Ron Paul steals the nomination. That will most certainly cause a real revolution.

A Strategy

Some Meetups are already giving up hope, but there is a way for us to get Ron Paul the nomination, and it is absolutely doable.

In a nutshell: If enough delegations *sit out the first and second vote*, McCain won’t get his required majority, and the national convention will become a brokered one-which means anything goes.

There are two main hurdles to accomplishing this:

1. To be even*presented* for nomination, Ron must be able to “demonstrate the support” of a majority of the delegates from at least five states.
2. Getting enough state delegations to sit out the first two votes won’t be easy but it is totally within the realm of the possible!.

What depresses so many delegates is that in order to even be selected as delegates to go to the National Convention, they are required by state party rules to sign a pledge that they will “support” John McCain. That is not the end of the story, however.

The only consequence of that is that a delegate’s vote for anyone other than McCain will simply not be counted.

*That’s all!*

There are no legal ramifications for breaking that pledge. There are only possible ethical concerns. These ethical concerns, however, are completely

swept aside by the possibility of simply NOT VOTING the first time around.The RNC’s party rules expressly contemplate and acknowledge that State Delegations may choose to sit out a vote. Rule 37c states:

(c) In balloting, *if any delegation shall pass when its name is called*, then at the conclusion of the roll call all delegations which passed shall be called in the order herein before established. *No delegation shall be allowed to change its vote until all delegations which passed shall have been given a second opportunity to vote*.

That means (a) it’s ok to abstain from voting, and (b) the only consequence is that the passing delegation(s) must be given another chance to vote before any other delegations are released from their pledges.

*The Big Challenge:*

The big hurdle to climb is the requirement of paragraph (b) of Rule 40, which states that in order to even be presented for nomination, a candidate must be able to demonstrate the support of a majority of the delegates of at least five states. Here is the rule:

(b) Each candidate for nomination for President of the United States and Vice President of the United States shall*demonstrate the support* of a majority of the delegates from each of five (5) or more states, severally, prior to the presentation of the name of that candidate for nomination.

The rule does not define what precise “demonstration of support” is required. In other words, it is not necessary that Ron Paul must have won a majority of the “beauty contest” (popular primary) vote in five states in order to be entitled to all their delegates.

What is a demonstration of support?

A candidate can ask that the delegations of five states where he believes he has enough support be polled by roll call so as to enable him to demonstrate that he has the support of a majority of delegates then and there at the National Convention.

That means we have to get to work on the delegates of each state after the state conventions are over.

Many Republicans hate McCain, or at least dislike him.

There is a huge arsenal of issues on which McCain has exposed himself as a sell-out to conservative Republicans: national sovereignty, free speech (McCain/Feingold), amnesty, guns, abortion you name it, he has voted against conservative values on these.

There is also evidence he “sang” in Vietnam, costing untold numbers of his fellow POWs their lives.

It should not be too difficult to convince conservative delegates not to vote for him with that evidence especially in light of the fact that the party rules explicitly contemplate the “passing” of votes by state delegations!

*The Strategy:*

The strategy therefore must be to get as many Ron Paul delegates selected to represent their states at the National Convention.

That means our delegates need to stay low- key.

Resolutions are a dead giveaway, especially when they are fought over things like opposition to the war, or abolishing the Federal Reserve and the IRS, all signature issues of Ron Paul.

So, the best plan is to shut up, move along, do what you have to do to get selected, sign the pledge to “support” McCain (it doesn’t say you promise not to abstain!) and just get in short of outright lying, of course.

If there are any ethical concerns about this supposed “stealth tactic”, think about what ethical concerns you may have if you allow McCain to become president by your inaction.

Old guard Republicans may complain about supposed “stealth” or deception-but what is it their preferred candidates do when they swear in their oaths of office to “support and defend” the Constitution and then do the opposite?

What is more unethical?

What is more damaging to the country?

What is more destructive of the very foundation of our government and our way of life?

My question is: As long as there is even a sliver of a chance to get Ron Paul the GOP nomination why give up??

*Why resign yourself to debating endlessly about the fine points of endless party resolutions and platforms knowing they are routinely ignored, anyway?*

These party honchos and their favorite sell-out candidates constantly ignore and violate even our Constitution! What makes you think they won’t utterly ignore whatever provisions we manage to get into the national party platform?

Is that worth the price of being spotted and “marked for death” by the party honchos at the state conventions? I don’t think so.Not when you consider what’s really at stake.

So, please, please, *please *don’t give up! Ron Paul still has plenty of fight left in him at his advanced age. Why shouldn’t we?

Let’s fight for what’s *important* (Ron Paul *winning*) - not for what routinely gets ignored!

So, in a word, rules are meant to be broken. After all, Rontards are sooo much smarter than the rest of us. They are entitled to have Ron Paul as the Republican nominee. So what, you loose a little integrity. No big deal, they’re just cheating the entire Democratic process and disenfranchising the whole of the Republican body that did not even consider Ron Paul. You tell me, what is right about a Candidate who may have only gotten 5% (and I’m being very generous here) of the popular vote walking away with the nomination. This is, in and of itself, exactly the problem we have in Washington. There is no integrity around, anywhere, and this even includes you Rontards. It’s is time we stand up for our principles, stand up for integrity, and expose the liars, the cheats, and the disingenuous.

The writer then ends the message with the following quote

John Quincy Adams

Now I thought that Rontards were well versed in history. Two things with this quote trouble me. First of all, I know it is easy to confuse the two, but John Adams is the actual source of this quote, not John Quincy Adams. The quote actually comes from correspondence between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson in the twilight years of their lives. These letters have been the subject of several books, and the current mini-series appearing on HBO. Besides the fact that the quote is attributed to the wrong Adams, the Adams that the writer chose to hold up was John Quincy Adams author of the Tariff of 1828, also known as the Tariff of Abomination. It intrigues me that he would choose someone who was such a supporter of big government .

On this note, I will leave you with the following quotes from John Adams:

“There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty.”

“Statesmen, my dear Sir, may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand. Too good to keep to myself…

Well, I haven’t heard a peep from the Ron Paul campaign since the March 4th primaries. I thought he was running till the bitter end? I guess he is just satisfied with his success with ‘plan B’, that’s being a Congressman for those of you from Lake Jackson.

This in and of itself, is proof positive that I was right. Ron Paul had no intention of ever being the POTUS. Just another Ron Paul scheme. This one in fact was brilliant, fronting a national campaign to get name recognition targeted at the dis-enfranchised from both the left and the right. This allowed him to raise tons of money from outside of his district, to both of his campaigns.

Chris Peden was simply outspent.

I guess we can look forward to (or not) having to hear Ron Paul one more time, having a prominent speaking role at the National Convention.

Oh, and Rontards just because Ron Paul managed to snow his constituents once again, it doesn’t mean we will be taking this site down anytime soon. We’ll be here, ready, watching, and ever vigilant. We may change the name, but the focus remains the same, because Texans deserve better…

For the name, I’m thinking “Educating Rontards…”  oxymoron? You tell me!

Chris Peden put up a valiant fight. For the first time, a poll was actually right about Ron Paul. What a shame for those in District 14, looks like another 4 years of “no” representation. I’ll say it again, it’s easy to say “no” than to offer any real solutions and stand behind them. 70% - 30% in favor of the incumbent. One thing that troubles me, it sure would be sad if a mitigating factor in today’s results came from Republicans crossing over in the primary to attempt influence the Democratic race. There sure were a lot of fish-out-of-water Republicans coming out of my Precinct’s Democratic caucus. Not because they have changed parties, but they wanted to select the opposition for the general election. Bad idea, they screwed the down ballot candidates and made it easy for the party faithfuls to re-elect the incumbents. If at first you don’t succeed, then try, try, again…

Exit question: Now that Ron Paul has plan “B” covered, what of his Presidential campaign?

If he doesn’t resume the Presidential campaign, then my premise he ran for President just to be able to raise more out of district money for his Congressional campaign with out ever intending to actually hit the Trifecta would be true. After all, he did say he was running all the way to the National Convention, so what McCain has clinched already.

It’s crunch time, the moment of truth. In a winner take all sweepstakes, the winner of tomorrows Texas 14th Congressional District Republican primary will become the new Representative in Congress. According to the Ron Paul supporters, they claim Ron Paul has a 70-30 lead in the polls. Which leads me to wonder, if this is indeed true, then why would it be necessary for a handful of Rontards (8) to get picked up (that’s arrested for those of you in Lake Jackson) in Friendswood for stealing Chris Peden signs. Hmm, that is a puzzlement… Nevertheless, the truth will be told tomorrow.

Now, I’m fairly certain that Ron Paul probably does not approve of these thefts, and probably does not approve of the sledge hammer taken to an electronic Peden sign as well. But, just like he opposes prostitution, yet will not turn away their money, or racism and bigotry, but still accepts money from known white supremacists Ron Paul has remained relatively silent on this issue.

Ron Paul has been having a bit of trouble lately. So much in fact, he has had to curb his Presidential bid in order to concentrate his efforts on “Plan B” (and you Rontards can shut up already, I heard him say it) his Congressional seat, which by the way should enthuse anyone whom he is supposed to represent. So as a result, I get to hear his commercials, and there’s a lot of them, every day. Commercials that are full of stale 10 year old data or quotes, obfuscations, and down right lies.

Congressional Quarterly names Ron Paul one the 50 most effective legislators - first this is an 8 year old article that frankly is quite stale, and second the article is not a list of “effective legislators”. That list does not exist.

He is trying to tie himself to the Reagan Revolution by airing a sound byte that is at least 10 years old where Reagan states “We need to keep Ron Paul”. Again stale, this is the same Ronald Reagan that Ron Paul blames for creating the OBL, and Sadam Hussein problem. So Ron Paul expects that he can rail against Ronald Reagan’s foreign policy on one hand, and ride his coat tails on the other.

He claims he is the tax payers best friend, well that’s a stretch coming from the Pork King of Lake Jackson. 400 million in one year for trivial projects that Ron Paul makes the earmarks for, and then votes down knowing his buddies in Congress will pass the measure.

He claims he is tough on defense. Meanwhile, he votes down every defense appropriation, want to cut military spending by 80%, do away with the CIA and the Air Force, and reduce our forces to ballistic submarines. Hmmm, that’s pretty tough allright.

He claims he is pro-family and pro-life, while he votes down measures to prohibit and increase penalties for transporting minors across State lines in order to get around home State abortion regulations.

The truth even eludes Ron Paul when it comes to his challenger. He ignores the fact that his seat is in serious jeopardy, refuses to debate or even have a forum. But, Ron Paul certainly cried foul when Fox did not invite him to the Florida debate.

As usual, Ron Paul says one thing, and does the complete opposite.
